Join Me In Person or Online in May and Learn about Planning for Long-Term Care

Most of us will eventually need some form of long-term care.  The good news is that proper planning can help ensure your wishes regarding your care will be carried out.  Proper planning can also protect your life savings from the cost of such care.

On Wednesday, May 11th from noon to 1 PM I’ll be making a presentation at The Cordwainer, a new state-of-the art memory care community in Norwell.  I’ll be joined by The Cordwainer Director of Community Relations Shari Flight, and a light lunch will be served.  (The Cordwainer itself is still under construction, so we are meeting at their “welcome center” next to Pour and Thai Ginger.)

On Thursday, May 12th I’ll make a similar presentation online.  During this webinar, which also begins at noon, I’ll be joined by Certified Financial Planners Dan Galli and Karen Van Voorhis.

Time permitting, my presentations will cover the following topics: the crucial legal documents everyone needs, particularly a health care proxy and durable power of attorney; the three primary levels of care (at home with help, assisted living, nursing home); the various options available to pay for long-term care, including MassHealth and Aid & Attendance; the steps you should take as soon as possible and the mistakes you must avoid; the benefits of working with an attorney who focuses on elder law; and whatever else I can squeeze into the time allotted.  (As many of you know, I can talk about long-term care planning for hours!)

You can register for Wednesday’s “lunch and learn” at The Cordwainer by calling (617) 921-1753 or by emailing Shari Flight at sflight@cordwainermemorycare.com.
